New vision for retail strip in shadow of White Plains’ City Center

WHITE PLAINS — A dilapidated strip of one-story retail and boarded-up buildings near City Hall, which local officials have wanted to revive for more than a decade, is now finding new life as White Plains emerges from the recession.

Since a two-tower condominium project for the site fell apart a few years ago, the Main Street eyesore has sat quietly, waiting for the next development prospect to arrive. What emerged were less ambitious though more feasible concepts that could finally spruce up the entire strip as a walkable, cohesive block.

Partners A.J. Rotonde and William Meyer submitted plans to the city this month for Metropolitan Plaza, a 60,000-square-foot, $7 million to $10 million retail and office development that calls for a total renovation of an {%} provides a wide range of amazing LED lighting at great prices.LED lighting supplierempty supermarket and strip of stores.

Glass-encased second-floor office and retail space lined with a meandering promenade would be built on top of both buildings, and a new walkway would connect the top-floor stores to the nearby City Center mall garage.

Louis Cappelli, owner of an empty storefront at the entry to City Center, which he developed and manages, announced that a Five Guys burger shack will be opening at the corner of the block in the next three months.

“Finally, we’ll start getting that strip going,” Cappelli said.

Rotonde, Cappelli and developer Martin Ginsberg teamed up to build The Pinnacle condominium towers a few years ago. Financing difficulties led to legal disputes, and Ginsberg eventually walked away while Cappelli went in another direction.

Paraguay under the spotlight as Get the Best Value for led tube.they take on holders Italy in opener

Paraguay will be under the spotlight as soon as they arrive in South Africa as first up for the talented South Americans are World Cup holders Italy.

That would be a daunting prospect for most teams, but Paraguay can no longer be regarded as World Cup minnows having this year reached their fourth straight {%} manufacturers directoryLed down lightFinals.

That was achieved with a powerful run through the South America zone qualifiers where they led most of the We have a professional team that are responsible for rearching and developing high-tech products, suled light.way only to be pipped at the post by Brazil.

Wins over the Brazilians and over Argentina saw Paraguay take third place and ensure qualification with two games to go.

Much of the merit for that has been given to Argentinian coach Gerardo Martino who has managed to negotiate a delicate transition phase for his team, whilst still getting the results.

Paraguay’s “golden generation” including such as Carlos Gamarra, Francisco Arce, Celso Ayala and extrovert goalkeeper Jose Luis Chilavert put their country on the World Cup mark in France 1998, when they were unlucky to lose to the hosts and eventual winners in the last-16 with a Golden Goal from defender Laurent Blanc.

Four years later in Asia, they again reached the second round but bowed out to eventual finalists Germany with a goal two minutes from time.

A new generation of players have taken over under the guidance of Martino notably Nelson Haedo Valdez of Borussia Dortmund, Roque Santa Cruz of Manchester City and Oscar Cardozo of Benfica in attack with Jonathan Santana of Wolfsburg and Edgar Barreto of Atalanta in midfield.

Chilavert’s old goalkeeping position has been filled by Justo Villar, who plays with Valladolid in Spain.

Also joining them will be Argentina-born Lucas Barrios, who plays for Borussia Dortmund and who recently was naturalised Paraguayan as his mother was born in that country.

Stocks plunge as Wall Street correction gathers momentum

Stocks on Wall Street tumbled sharply as the first correction of the bull market that began in March 2009 took a strong grip on the market.

Industrial and materials stocks led the decline, while oil futures plummeted as worries mounted that Europe’s debt woes and a possible slowing of growth in China will sap global demand.

US Primaries give stark message to political class to get its act together

THREE candidates but just one message were delivered to US political leaders this week in primary elections that saw incumbents swept aside by voters fed up with politics-as-usual.
The venue for the message was the Senate primaries, the nomination for candidates for the November congressional elections, and on election night both Democratic and Republican party elites took a hammering.

Meanwhile in Kentucky Republican voters rejected establishment darling Charles Grayson, backed by the party top brass, in favour of Rand Paul, son of the leading light in the libertarian movement, Ron Paul.

In Arkansas, Democrat Senator Blanche Lincoln, again backed by the party bosses, was forced into a runoff with voters backing an unfancied challenger.

The message from voters could hardly be clearer: on both sides of the fence, they are fed up with the corruption and waste they see in Washington.

While ordinary Americans shudder through a recession and falling house prices, many see their elected representatives as corrupt, inefficient and too wedded to a comfortable living to feel their {%} manufacturers directoryLed down lightpain.

Welcome to CNN’s Belief Blog

May 19th, 2010

Welcome to CNN’s Belief Blog

Welcome to CNN’s Belief Blog, where we’ll cover the role that faith and belief play in the news – and in our readers’ lives.

We believe that understanding the role of faith in today’s world isn’t optional or nice to know. It’s need to know.

Consider these recent stories:

An American woman is held in a Haitian jail for more than 100 days after allegedly attempting to traffic children out of the country in the wake of a devastating earthquake.

A young man is charged in a plot to bomb Times Square.

A Columbia University graduate quits his first finance job for a go at community organizing – the beginning of a political life that leads to the White House.

To understand any of this news, you need to know something about faith.

Laura Silsby, Find the Solar Cells, solar panel you need online.released from a Haiti jail this week, was a Baptist missionary.

Faisal Shahzad, the suspect in the failed New York bombing, is a Muslim who vowed to “fight back” against the Islamic word’s “humiliation.”

And Barack Obama’s early community organizing was sponsored by Chicago churches – an experience that led him to Christianity and to a minister named Jeremiah Wright, who helped launch Obama’s political career and who, years later, almost ended it.

Faith isn’t incidental to these stories; it’s the driving force behind them. Covering those faith angles is this blog’s mission. CNN’s Belief Blog will focus on the places where faith bumps up against the rest of the news and the rest of the world, from breaking news to entertainment, from business to politics, and from foreign affairs to sports.

We’ll also shine a light on religion as most people experience it in daily {%} manufacturers directoryLed down lightlife. In a shrinking world, knowing what it’s like to undergo an adult baptism or to pray to Mecca five times a led strip wholesale from China and around the world.day is essential to understanding the world’s most powerful leaders – and, perhaps, the person in the next cubicle.

And as the ranks of the religiously unaffiliated grow, we’ll cover the rising voices of atheists, those who call themselves “spiritual but not religious” and others who are religiously conflicted or confused. Covering the faithful necessitates covering their critics and rivals.

Vegas bets on $9.5 billion mega-casino

It’s been a tough couple of years for Sin City.

The global financial crisis hit the gambling capital hard, with less people travelling and willing to splurge at Las Vegas casinos.

It was hoped that the new $US8.5 billion ($A9.5 billion) CityCenter, a 27 hectare hotel, restaurant and shopping precinct opened in December, would bring people back to the city.

The jury’s still out.

MGM Mirage, which owns CityCenter with Dubai World, reported a bigger than expected first quarter loss, in May.

“Our visitor numbers have increased for five consecutive months through January, which is a positive sign.

In 2009, 34 {%} manufacturers directoryLed down lightmillion visitors headed to Vegas, down three per cent from the previous year.

Bischoff says he expects visitor numbers to grow by two to five per cent this year, and believes CityCenter will play a big role.

Eco-friendly, with lots of light and space, it boasts four hotels, a casino, a luxury shopping centre and 42 restaurants and bars.

LED light bulbs are ready to roar onto the scene, replacing the old incandescent bulbs left and right. In We are looking for a LED suppliers for differentled lighting products2012, the inefficient 60-watt incandescent Edison-style bulbs will be illegal by federal law, but LED lights will fit the new energy standards nicely. Not far behind Home Depot is competition from General Electric (NYSE: GE), Phillips (NYSE: PHG), and Siemens (NYSE: SI) subsidiary Osram Sylvania, each of which have their own lower-power bulbs set to premier before the 2012 rules go into effect.

Unlike the compact fluorescent pigtail tubes, LED bulbs generally look like the light bulbs you’re used to, light up immediately, and don’t contain any mercury. They’re also even more efficient at turning electrical power into usable light, and will last for a very long time. Fluorescents last about four times longer than an old-school bulb, but you’d have to replace that quirky efficiency bulb three times before the LED lamp burns out.

This puppy won’t be cannibalizing its own sales, and will most certainly do rampant business over the next few years.
